Italian Heritage Month and Festa della Repubblica (June 2)
Italian Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and impact of Italian Canadians in our country. Festa della Repubblica is celebrated in Italy on the second day of June each year. The day commemorates the institutional referendum held by universal suffrage in 1946, in which the Italian people were called to the polls to decide on the form of government, following the Second World War and the fall of fascism.
BWG held a flag raising for Italian Heritage Month and Festa della Reubblica on Sunday, June 2, at the Court House Courtyard.
Pride Month
Every year, cities around the world recognize June as Pride Month – dedicated to the celebration of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and culture, in support of 2SLGBTQI+ rights. Pride Month is an opportunity to acknowledge the history, the hardships, and the challenges that the 2SLGBTQI+ community has endured, along with celebrating the progress that has been made.
BWG will hold a flag raising for Pride Month on Monday, June 3, at 4:00 pm, at the Leisure Centre.
Portuguese Heritage Month and Portugal Day (June 10)
June is Portuguese Heritage month, recognizing the immense contribution the Portuguese community has made to Canada. Portugal Day is celebrated around the world every year on June 10. This day pays tribute to Portugal, the Portuguese people, the Lusophone culture, and the Portuguese presence worldwide.
BWG will hold a flag raising ceremony for Portuguese Heritage Month and Portugal Day on Saturday, June 8, at the Court House Courtyard.
RCAF Centennial
This year marks 100 years of service for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) as a distinct military element. The centennial milestone honours the RCAF’s distinct heritage, and recognizes its members who have defended Canada, its people, allies, and interests.
BWG will hold a flag raising for the RCAF Centennial on Monday, June 10, at 4:00 pm, at the Leisure Centre.
