The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury invites residents and visitors to join in honoring and appreciating our local lifeguards as part of Lifeguard Appreciation Day on July 31, 2024.

As part of the celebration, patrons are invited to write thank you cards using pre-generated templates available at the Bradford Leisure Center. Children are encouraged to bring a hand drawn picture of their favourite lifeguards to be displayed on a special recognition board during the event.

Residents can submit their thank you cards and pictures at the Bradford Leisure Center until August 2, 2024. Selected submissions will be displayed prominently to honor our lifeguards' commitment to community safety and well-being.

Bradford West Gwillimbury employs a team of dedicated lifeguards who oversee safety at our swimming pools throughout the entire year from our community. Our lifeguards undergo rigorous training, including over 150 hours of initial aquatic courses and testing, and hold certifications necessary to respond to emergencies.

International Lifeguard Appreciation Day is observed annually on July 31 and recognized by organizations such as the Ontario Lifesaving Society, emphasizing the vital role lifeguards play in promoting water safety and community well-being.

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is currently hiring lifeguards and swim instructors for the upcoming Fall 2024 season. To learn more about becoming a lifeguard or participating in aquatic leadership programs, visit www.townofbwg.com/AquaticLeadership or contact Cortnee Andrade, Aquatic Leader, at [email protected].
