One person is facing impaired driving charges after a parked car was struck by a vehicle.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened in Cookstown at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

No one was hurt.

The vehicle involved was seen heading west on Highway 89 towards Alliston.

It only took about 10 minutes for officers to track down a suspect vehicle. They say its driver “displayed obvious signs of impairment.”

A 57-year-old Keswick resident was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to remain

In addition, the accused was issued a 90-day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for a week.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
