Police seized drugs and a stolen vehicle Tuesday after a driver fled a traffic stop in Bradford.
At about 11:15 a.m., an officer was on patrol on Bridge Street and saw “an inconsistency” with a licence plate on a black Dodge Ram pickup truck, South Simcoe police said in a news release.
The truck was followed into a parking lot on Yonge Street in York Region, where a traffic stop was initiated. The driver attempted to flee in the vehicle but ended up in a ditch before surrendering to police.
Police say the driver was in possession of more than one kilogram of suspected cocaine, 150 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and cash. Police also learned the truck had been stolen from Peel Region in 2022.
A 37-year-old Brampton man has been charged with flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation, possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of stolen property obtained by crime over $5,000, and several Highway Traffic Act offences. He was held for a bail hearing.
