Here’s a lesson in what not to do when you hear an emergency siren.
On Wednesday morning, South Simcoe police were conducting stop sign enforcement at the Canal and Simcoe roads intersection. At about 10:30 a.m., they allegedly observed a Subaru travelling eastbound that did not make a full and complete stop.
A traffic stop was then attempted, but the vehicle continued east.
“Police activated their emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the Subaru continued driving,” department spokesperson Isabella Soligo said.
After trying two more times to pull the car over, police initiated a pursuit. Additional units were called in at 10:32 a.m. and the vehicle was successfully stopped.
The driver, a 20-year-old Bradford man, was charged with disobeying a stop sign, failing to stop when signalled or requested to do so by a police officer, and failing to surrender a licence.
