South Simcoe police laid stunt, suspended and careless driving charges between June 20 and 28.

On June 20 at about 10:40 p.m., police were conducting speed enforcement near 10th Sideroad and 2nd Line in Innisfil when a vehicle was seen being driven at 158 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

A 17-year-old from Innisfil was charged with stunt driving and speeding. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days and the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.

On June 27 at about 11 a.m., officers were patrolling in Innisfil when their automated licence plate recognition device alerted them to a plate that was “unattached,” police said in a news release.

A 30-year-old Innisfil man was charged with using a plate not authorized for the vehicle, driving under suspension and operating a motor vehicle on a highway with no insurance. It was the fourth time this year the driver had been charged by South Simcoe police for driving under suspension. He was provided a summons to appear in court.

On June 28 at about 11:55 a.m., officers responded to a collision at the intersection of County Road 27 and Line 9 in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Police determined a vehicle was being driven westbound on Line 9 at a high rate of speed and hit a vehicle that was northbound on County Road 27.

The occupants in both vehicles sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution. An 82-year-old Mississauga woman was charged with careless driving.
