Markham woman's disappearance being investigated by homicide unit

Richmond Hill realtor has had no contact with family since Friday, which is 'out of character for her,' police say

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are appealing for witnesses after a Markham woman was reported missing under suspicious circumstances on Friday.

Family told police that they had not seen 56-year-old Yuk-Ying Anita Mui since approximately 9:30 a.m. Aug. 9, when she left her home in the area of Baycliffe Road and Warden Avenue, according to a news release. She spoke to family at 11 a.m. and has not been seen or heard from since.

Through investigation, Mui's vehicle, a white 2024 Mercedes Benz GLE450 SUV was located in the area of Finch Avenue East and Warden Avenue in th Toronto that afternoon, police said.

Police and Mui’s family are concerned for her well-being. "This is out of character for her and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are being treated as suspicious," police said.

She is described as female, Chinese, five feet six inches in height, 130 lbs., medium build, with brown eyes and straight, shoulder-length black hair.

Mui is a realtor at a brokerage in Richmond Hill.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone that may have seen her vehicle or have information about this incident.
