Driver stopped for going 129 km/h in a 50 on Maple Road in Innisfil

A driver from Etobicoke was stopped on Friday night and has been charged with going well over double the posted speed limit.

Around 8:30 p.m., while a South Simcoe Police Service officer was conducting mobile speed enforcement in Innisfil, the officer stopped a vehicle that was clocked on radar going 129 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Maple Road. The vehicle was travelling southbound approaching 6th Line.

A 40-year-old driver was ultimately charged with stunt driving and speeding.

The vehicle was impounded for 14 days and the driver's licence was suspended for 30 days.
