Bradford duo charged after loaded gun, drugs seized in traffic stop

A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman are facing numerous charges in wake of incident, say police

A traffic stop last week in Barrie has led to numerous charges for two Bradford residents.

On Sept. 6, Barrie police stopped a vehicle they believed was being operated by an impaired driver. Police seized a fully loaded handgun, drugs, and cash.

A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman have been charged with the following:

  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

The man was also charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance, possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available.

The man was remanded into custody following a bail hearing, while the woman was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
