Philthy Philly’s celebrates official grand opening

Philthy Philly's held its grand opening under its new management on Thursday as they aim to bring the famous Philly cheesesteak to Bradford

Philthy Philly’s held its official grand opening at 450 Holland Street in Bradford on Thursday under its new management.

Mayor Rob Keffer, Councillors Raj Sandhu and Ron Orr, and a representative for MP Scot Davidson were in attendance to welcome owners Mo and Saleem Alfawagreh and Vlad Obibok to the community on Thursday afternoon. 

“It’s great to be here for a new franchise in town,” said Keffer. “As mayor of Bradford West Gwillimbury and on behalf of our council and residents it’s my great pleasure to welcome Philthy Philly’s into our vibrant business community. Our municipality is experiencing tremendous growth, and with it, a booming demand for products and services, new and unique culinary experiences, and it’s fuelling business expansion.

“Your fantastic assortment of Philadelphia style sandwiches and poutines are sure to be popular among residents and visitors. As your brand becomes established in Bradford West Gwillimbury, I hope your new venture provides a long list of satisfied customers, robust sales, and a profitable future.”

“This is a wonderful welcome addition to our town,” added Sandhu. “What I really like is your smiling faces, you all have a welcoming smile, and you’ll bring good food and customer service which will bring people back.”

The Philthy Philly’s menu is highlighted by the Philly cheesesteak but also offers poutine, pulled pork, chicken, burgers, salad, sweets.

“It’s a great decision to locate your restaurant in Bradford,” said the representative on Davidson’s behalf. “I know you’ve got great menu options straight out of Philadelphia, and it can satisfy anyone with a hungry appetite. You have a fabulous menu with your Philly cheesesteak, the poutine and pulled pork sandwiches will be a hit with many in the community looking for good food served fast.

“I’m proud of the initiative you’ve shown along with your hard work to make this opening a reality as part of our growing family here in Bradford. The Alfawagrehs and Obibok own three other franchises in London, Cambridge, and Waterloo.

“Thank you all so much for being here,” said Mo Alfawagreh. “When I first came here it was nerve racking, but you know what, we’ve had nothing but great feedback and met so many different amazing people. You’ve welcomed us with open arms, and it feels amazing.”

“It’s a great pleasure to be in Bradford and the community has been incredibly welcoming,” added Saleem Alfawagreh. “We’re hoping to be here for a while to provide the best service we possibly can.”
