The iconic Toronto-based rock band, Sloan, will be performing Oct. 11 as part of Aurora Town Square’s highly anticipated grand-opening celebrations.

Tickets for an "unforgettable evening" in the new state-of-the-art performance hall went on sale Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m., a Town of Aurora news release said.

“We are beyond excited to welcome Sloan to Aurora Town Square as part of our grand-opening celebrations,” said Mayor Tom Mrakas. “Their performance will undoubtedly be a highlight, and we can’t wait for the community to experience everything this incredible new space has to offer.”

Sloan, originally from Halifax, N.S., is renowned for their unparalleled contribution to the Canadian music scene. Since their formation in 1991, Sloan has produced over 250 songs and more than 30 singles that have earned substantial airplay on Canadian rock radio.

Throughout their 30-year career, Sloan has played a pivotal role in shaping the Canadian East Coast alternative music scene, earning comparisons to the Seattle grunge movement of the early ’90s. The band has been nominated for nine Juno Awards, winning Best Alternative Album in 1997, and was named one of Canada’s top five bands of all time in a CBC critics poll.

In addition to Sloan’s highly anticipated performance, Aurora Town Square’s grand opening, which runs from Sept. 21 to Oct. 13, includes a diverse lineup of indoor and outdoor entertainment, exclusive previews from partners, and captivating performances across a wide array of genres.

Aurora Town Square will also feature a variety of free activities, programs, and exhibits during grand opening. These experiences offer an exciting glimpse into the future of Town Square, inviting the community to explore and engage with the dynamic new space. Highlights include interactive art installations, heritage exhibitions featuring the Aurora Collection, family-friendly workshops, and cultural showcases.
