Fire Prevention Week – October 3-9

Visit BWGFES at Pumpkin Fest on October 16
PH-Fire

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and the construction of the new fire hall, BWG Fire and Emergency Services will not be holding their annual Fire Prevention Week Open House at the fire station.

Instead, fire prevention staff will be promoting Fire Prevention Week at various locations throughout town. Come visit us at Pumpkin Fest at Henderson Park on October 16!

PROCLAMATION: Fire Prevention Week - October 3-9, 2021

WHEREAS:

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living in and visiting our Town; and

WHEREAS:

This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety”, so residents of BWG are encouraged to be aware that:

  • When a smoke alarm or carbon monoxide (CO) alarm sounds, respond immediately by exiting the home as quickly as possible.
  • If your alarm begins to chirp, it may mean that the batteries are running low and need to be replaced.
  • You should test all smoke and CO alarms monthly. Press the test button to make sure the alarm is working.
  • You should know the difference between the sound of a smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm – three beeps for smoke alarms; four beeps for carbon monoxide alarms.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim October 3-9, 2021 as “FIRE PREVENTION WEEK” in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
