On Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at approximately 1:05 a.m., South Simcoe Police responded to an “assist other agency” call for service in the area of Maplegrove and Kulpin Avenue in Bradford. Upon arrival, South Simcoe Police met with paramedics who were providing medical care to the victim, a 32-year-old male from Bradford, who sustained a single stab wound and was transported by Paramedics to a local trauma centre. The victim underwent surgery and was placed in stable condition.

Police took the suspect, a 22-year-old male from Barrie, into custody at the scene and was charged with the following offences: 

  • Aggravated assault 
  • Assault with a weapon 
  • Weapons dangerous 
  • Assault

The suspect was also held pending a bail hearing. South Simcoe Police believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.
