Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charge

On Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 at 3:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a citizen's call regarding a possible impaired driver in a parking lot in the Langford Boulevard and Holland Street West area of Bradford. A traffic stop was initiated. After speaking with the male driver, police requested a roadside screening device test which resulted in a fail. The man was arrested and transported to South Division for further testing.

As a result of an investigation, 49-year-old Maheswaran Nallaiyah of Bradford was charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
