Three people are now facing drug and possession of stolen property charges after three vehicles were stolen from a municipal property in Grey Highlands.
Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the property in Grey Highlands at 6:47 a.m. on July 7 for a report that three of the town's vehicles were stolen.
Police say suspects got into the building to get keys for the vehicles, then drove away.
All three vehicles had GPS tracking systems equipped and the town was able to track two vehicles to a property on Story Book Park Road in Meaford.
Police arrested two people at the scene.
A 35-year-old from South Bruce and a 50-year-old from Georgian Bluffs were charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000) and possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Later that day, the town told police the third vehicle had been tracked to a location in Amaranth. Dufferin County OPP attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled from police.
Wellington OPP found the vehicle in Hillsburgh and arrested a 39-year-old woman from Grey Highlands, charging her with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Flight from peace officer
The accused parties were held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
On July 9, the police received further information and as a result, the Grey Highlands woman was again arrested, then released with the following charges:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (two counts)
- Mischief over $5,000
- Trespassing at night
- Break, enter a place — commit indictable offence
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — methamphetamine
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — opioid
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Aug. 8.
Two individuals remain outstanding.
