Teen charged with careless driving after 2-vehicle crash in Bradford

Alliston resident, 19, charged following Wednesday morning collision on Line 11, east of the 10th Sideroad

No one was hurt. But a teenager has been charged following a two-vehicle crash in Bradford Wednesday morning.

South Simcoe police, Bradford Fire and Emergency Services personnel and County of Simcoe paramedics were called to the scene of the collision May 29 at around 7:30 a.m.

The incident occurred on Line 11, east of the 10th Sideroad.

Photos from the scene show a car on a front lawn and a minivan in a ditch, however, no injuries were reported. Police say both vehicles were travelling in the eastbound direction at the time. The van then attempted to turn northbound and the car approached and allegedly tried to overtake the van but instead struck it on the rear passenger-side bumper.

"The impact sent the first vehicle into the ditch, and both vehicles’ airbags were deployed," police spokesperson Isabella Soligo said in a media release. "Both vehicles were not drivable."

A 19-year-old Alliston resident has been charged with careless driving.

Police warn penalties for such an offence can include fines ranging from $400 to $2,000, up to six demerit points, a maximum two-year driver's licence suspension and up to six months of jail time.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact police at 905-775-3311 or 705-436-2141, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. They can also leave an anonymous tip online at crimestopperssdm.com
