Barrie police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at a Georgian Mall jewelry store on Monday night.

Details are still scarce following last night's jewelry store robbery inside Georgian Mall.

Barrie police were called to the north-end mall around 8 p.m. on Aug. 26 for a reported armed robbery.

According to a news release issued Tuesday morning by city police, the robbery involved four suspects who smashed glass display cases and fled in a stolen white SUV.

One person suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police say.

According to police, no shots were fired, however a firearm may have been seen in the possession of the suspects.

Police were unable to confirm the types of items stolen or the value of the stolen items on Tuesday morning.

“I can confirm that it was a jewelry store, but I don’t have any additional details,” Barrie police spokesperson Jennett Mays said in an email.

The Barrie Police Criminal Investigations Division is continuing to investigate the robbery. Police say more details will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or who may have video footage is asked to contact Detective Const. Lawrason at [email protected].
