Store employee belongings reported missing in East Gwillimbury theft investigation

Police believe the suspect may be responsible for similar incidents in the area

Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are appealing for information to identify a suspect wanted for a theft that occurred in a store in the Town of East Gwillimbury.

On Sunday, May 31, 2020 shortly before 3 p.m., a suspect attended a rug store in a plaza in the area of Yonge Street and Green Lane. He went to an employee area of the store and stole an employee’s personal belongings, which included a laptop computer, wallet and watch, then exited through the rear door of the store.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance and investigators are releasing an image of the suspect and appealing for anyone with information on who he might be to please come forward. Investigators also believe that this suspect has been involved in other similar incidents in the area.

Suspect description:
    •    Male, white
    •    30 to 40 years
    •    6’1”
    •    Short brown hair
    •    Heavy-build

Suspect vehicle:
    •    Black Ford Expedition
    •    Black rims

The investigation is on-going.
