The South Simcoe Police Service is pleased to participate in Ontario’s annual Crime Prevention Week, which runs from Nov. 3 to 9, 2024. The week-long promotion of crime prevention is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), the Ministry of the Solicitor General, and police services across Ontario. The 2024 theme is Awareness in Action: Keeping Ontario Safe Together – emphasizing the importance of working together to help build a safer, stronger Ontario.

Most types of crimes are preventable, and Crime Prevention Week is a great opportunity for everyone to consider what they can do to keep their families, neighbourhoods, schools, and workplaces safe from criminal activities. In recognition of Crime Prevention week, South Simcoe Police has partnered with community organizations to hold a series of programs and events to share essential crime prevention information and safety tips.

“Community safety and well-being is a shared responsibility in Ontario. Being aware of crime and how to prevent being a victim of criminal activity is something everyone can do. We want our community members to know how they can protect themselves, their families, neighbours, and workplaces from crime. We encourage everyone to take part in Crime Prevention Week by attending an event or learning about how to protect yourself, your family or your business.” – Chief John Van Dyke, South Simcoe Police. Be sure to follow our social media channels during #CPWeek2024 for community event information and safety tips.
