Barrie police are investigating after a person was robbed and injured last night at a bus shelter in the city's north end.

On Monday, Nov. 11 at 9:59 p.m., police say officers responded to a reported robbery occurring at the corner of Livingstone Street East and Michael Crescent.

Upon arrival, police learned the victim had been waiting in a transit shelter when two unknown men, dressed in black and wearing masks, assaulted him and took his cellphone after he attempted to get away from his attackers.

Police say one of the suspects, after obtaining the phone, threw it to the ground, causing damage to it.

The suspects then fled from the area and were last seen running northbound on Michael Crescent prior to police arrival.

A search of the area failed to locate the men responsible, police say.

The suspects were described as wearing black hoodies, with one possibly having a white logo on it.

One of the suspects is believed to be a teenager, according to police.

Police said the victim sustained a minor injury and did not require hospital treatment.

Police are asking for anyone with information, dash-cam video or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the investigating officer by email at [email protected].
