If you have faith that someone is watching over us as we approach the upcoming holiday with family and friends, you're not wrong.
Ontario Provincial Police say they will be on the roads and highways — and in the air — leading up to this coming Thanksgiving long weekend.
That's according to the OPP Central Region, who say a plane from the OPP Aviation Services will be working with officers on the ground to "weed out dangerous drivers who are putting their own lives, and the lives of everyone else on the roads, in jeopardy."
"We will not be providing specific locations for aerial enforcement. It could be the highways, or it could be secondary roads," police stated in a release. "Please keep your eyes on the road ahead at all times, not on your phone and not on the sky."
The OPP said officers will focus on the "big four" factors in serious and fatal collisions: aggressive driving, inattentive driving, impaired driving and lack of occupant restraints.
Aggressive driving includes, among other things, speeding, unsafe lane changes and following too closely, police said.
