There was no foul play involved in a fatal incident along the Barrie GO Transit line Monday afternoon, South Simcoe police say.

The department confirmed one person died in the collision with a train. It happened around 1:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the rail crossing at the 12th Line and 20th Sideroad intersection, located in a rural area in the north-end of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Media relations for Metrolinx, the parent agency of GO, says the train was carrying about 200 passengers southbound to Union Station in Toronto.

Buses were deployed to the area to help riders get to their final destinations, Metrolinx said via email.

There were delays and trip modifications on the Barrie line as a result of this incident, though regular train service had resumed along the line in time for the evening commute.

For up-to-date schedules, customers are encouraged to visit gotransit.com, Metrolinx said.
