Licence plate infraction nets driver numerous charges, including impaired

On Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020 at 8 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle in the Simcoe Road and Holland Street West area of Bradford with a licence plate infraction. A traffic stop was initiated. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to South Division.

As a result of an investigation, 38-year-old Jose Marques Peixoto of Bradford was charged with the following:
    •    Operation while impaired
    •    Operation while prohibited
    •    Failure or refusal to comply with demand
    •    Fail to comply with judicial release (two counts)
    •    Use plate not authorized for vehicle
    •    Drive motor vehicle - no permit
    •    Drive motor vehicle - no validation on plate
    •    Fail to have insurance card

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 45 days.

Forty per cent of fatally injured drivers had been drinking alcohol prior to the collision. Don’t add to this statistic. Make good choices.
