A fourth person has been charged in an investigation into the abduction of Elnaz Hajtamiri.
At about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2022, Hajtamiri, who was 37 at the time, was abducted from a residence on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach by people posing as police officers, wearing fake police gear.
On Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police arrested Adams Suleman Ankamah, 29, of Brampton, and laid the following charges: kidnapping, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused is being held in custody and has a June 1 court date in Barrie.
An outstanding arrest warrant has been issued for Deshawn Davis, 35, of Toronto.
“Police also are looking to identify and speak to the individual(s) who rented vehicles in December 2021. This individual, or individuals, are not suspects, but may have information related to this case,” OPP said in a news release. Police ask anyone with information about their whereabouts to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or the tip line at 1-833-728-3415.
There have been multiple arrests in connection with Hajtamiri's abduction case. Police arrested Dominique Ewan, 35, of Etobicoke on April 3, and that Ewan is charged with kidnapping, fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Police also reported on March 17, 2023, they had arrested Krystal P. Lawrence on March 16 and charged her with kidnapping. She was released with conditions and ordered to appear in court to face the charges.
Prior to being abducted, on Dec. 20, 2021, Hajtamiri was attacked and struck with a frying pan in her underground parking garage on King William Crescent, near Yonge Street and Bantry Avenue. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Since then, six people have been arrested in connection with that attack.
OPP and York Regional Police are offering a $100,000 reward for anyone with information that will lead to Hajtamiri’s whereabouts.
Hajtamiri is about 5’3 tall, has a slim build and had shoulder-length black hair until it was cut shorter before she was abducted.
