South Simcoe police are still looking into a serious crash involving an e-bike that occurred in Alcona Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a motor-vehicle collision on Innisfil Beach Road, east of 20th Sideroad, Aug. 30 at about 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival, South Simcoe police found the rider of an e-bike unconscious. They were taken to a local health centre but later transported to a Toronto hospital via Ornge air ambulance.

The rider is now stable and expected to make a full recovery.

Police will not say whether rider error led to the crash, or if another vehicle was involved.

“Officers are still investigating,” spokesperson Isabella Soligo said in an email. “Cause of accident has not been determined yet. It was not a medical emergency.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Const. Wazeer Rahman at 705-436-2141, ext. 2029, or [email protected]. They can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
