Crash involving OPP cruiser closed Collingwood intersection for hours

A collision between two vehicles, on an OPP cruiser, closed a portion of Hume Street for several hours on May 30.

Part of Hume Street was closed for several hours on May 30 for an investigation into a two-vehicle crash involving a police cruiser. 

The crash occurred at about 2:45 p.m.. at the intersection of Peel and Hume streets and the road was closed until about 10 p.m. 

A news release Friday morning from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment stated the officer in the marked cruiser was heading to a call for service when the collision occurred. 

The officer and the driver of the other vehicle (there was only one person in each vehicle) were taken to hospital with minor injuries and later released. 

The investigation is ongoing.
