A Canadian Pacific train crew looked after its own locomotive fire Monday morning north of Barrie.
Jeff Kirk, Springwater Township’s director of fire and emergency services, said local firefighters responded to a reported locomotive on fire just after 11 a.m., north of Baldwick Lane.
“On arrival, the train crew had utilized an extinguisher to suppress (the) fire,” Kirk said. “Hose lines were deployed to further cool (the) locomotive brakes and axles.
“CP will be working to remove the locomotive in the next few hours,” he said just before 3 p.m. Monday.
