South Simcoe Police Service responded to 217 traffic-related calls for service during Canada Road Safety Week 2021.
The seven-day national enforcement campaign from May 18-24 focused on behaviours that put drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other vulnerable road users most at risk: impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and driving without a seat belt.
During the week, officers conducted 134 traffic stops that resulted in 139 charges, including dangerous driving, impaired driving and flight from police.
Here are the numbers:
- 217 traffic-related calls for service
- 134 traffic stops that resulted in 139 charges
- 19 collisions (13 property damage, four personal injury, two fail to remain)
- 46 driving complaints
- Four suspended drivers
- Two impaired alcohol
- One impaired drug
- Two Criminal Code dangerous drive/flight from peace officer
- Two liquor licence act (open liquor)
- Three marine related charges
