Making Change, Parents Against Racism Simcoe County, and the Simcoe County District School Board are proud to present We Rise Together, an event
designed to inspire and empower Black students.

Taking place on March 26, 2025, at Maple Ridge Secondary School (225 Prince William Way), this event will provide attendees with the opportunity to engage in meaningful workshops, connect with peers, and hear from an iconic keynote speaker, Michael "Pinball" Clemons.

This initiative is proudly funded by Public Safety Canada—Building Safer Communities Fund.

Pinball Clemons is a celebrated Canadian sports legend, community leader and philanthropist. A former professional football player and head coach for the Toronto Argonauts, he is known for his dynamic leadership both on and off the field. As the current general manager of the Argonauts, Clemons is dedicated to uplifting communities and inspiring youth through his commitment to education, perseverance and empowerment.

In addition to Clemons' motivational keynote address, We Rise Together will offer a series of informative and engaging workshops focused on essential life skills, including:

  • Financial literacy – Helping students understand the basics of money management and financial independence
  • Resume writing – Providing key strategies for crafting strong job applications
  • Post-secondary pathways – Exploring various opportunities for higher education and career planning.

This event represents a powerful collaboration that supports Black students as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.
