'We all need something to smile about' says Bradford photographer taking family portraits during pandemic (9 photos)

Marcia Talbot Photography offers free porch portraits for families for the next little while as the community fights the COVID-19 pandemic

For local photographer Marcia Harvey Talbot, taking pictures and capturing the emotions of her clients is what she does best.

In the recent weeks with social distancing and isolation, she has been trying to make the best of these uncertain times by offering free family portraits on front porches.

"I saw other photographers doing this, and it just seemed like a beautiful way to give back to the community," she explained. "We all need something to smile about, and to have a little fun."

Early last week she posted on her business page that she would be offering free family photography sessions for anyone interested.

"This is going to be an ongoing thing for me, because it appears there is no quick end in sight," she added. "I am there to capture the emotions of the families, and help spread the love."

In exchange for the free photographs, she just asks for people to pass the love on to someone else.

"That might be in the form of a donation to the food bank, helping someone in need or just reaching out to make sure people are ok. We can all make a difference!"

One of Talbot's first sessions was for friend, Mary Misener and her family. Misener's father is in palliative care at home, and Talbot thought it would be nice to capture some memories of Misener with her parents.

"This picture means the world to me," expressed Misener about the one of her and her family together.

"Our self isolation may be harder than most. My dad is slowly losing his battle and is in Palliative care at home. We are sharing this difficult time to spend with him and showing him much we love him."

Many families have taken part in the initiative this week. Anyone interested in having their photos taken are asked to send a message directly to Talbot through her Facebook page here.
