The power of flowers is in full bloom in BWG (10 photos)

Despite the pandemic, the Town of BWG has worked hard to maintain its flowering baskets and planters throughout town

Some municipalities have cut back on their horticultural programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. In some cases, municipal flower beds have been left unplanted, planter boxes unfilled – unless volunteers and Garden Clubs have stepped up to fill the void.

But not Bradford West Gwillimbury. In BWG, flowers hang from light standards, fill planters, and bloom in flowering beds, providing joy, comfort, and hope during the dreary months of lockdown and isolation.

‘If thou of fortune be bereft

And in thy store there be but left

Two loaves, sell one and with the dole

Buy Hyacinths to feed thy soul.’ – translated from the Gulistan of Moslih Eddin Saadi.
