Simcoe County Paramedics are experiencing what they call extremely high call volumes, the County of Simcoe says it is adjusting to meet the demand.

In a tweet from OPSEU 303, the union which represents Simcoe County Paramedics, the union stated there are currently no available ambulances across Simcoe County this afternoon.

“Be patient when calling for an ambulance in Simcoe County today. High call volume and icy conditions have caused us to have zero ambulances available to respond anywhere in the entire county,” reads the tweet.

When reached for comment, an official with the County of Simcoe indicated to CollingwoodToday.ca that there are ambulances available.

Deputy Chief JC Gilbert confirmed that County of Simcoe Paramedic Services is reporting extremely high 9-1-1 call volumes due to the severe weather conditions.

"While some of today’s inclement weather is unexpected, this is the reality of winter in Simcoe County, and our team of dedicated paramedics are working tirelessly to meet increasing demands at all our stations," said Gilbert. "We can confirm that we have ambulances available to respond to emergencies; however, response times may vary depending on road conditions and locations."

"Please don’t hesitate to call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency. The needs of the community, and providing expert medical care to them, is our priority," said Gilbert.
