NEWS RELEASE
TECUMSETH AND WEST GWILLIMBURY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
*************************
On Nov. 18, 2019, the Tecumseth and West Gwillimbury Historical Society commemorated the brave women who took part in the dangerous and top secret world of munitions manufacture. The Society welcomed historian and presenter Barbara Dickson, the author of “Bomb Girls, Trading Aprons for Ammo”

The large audience learned about the abandoned tunnel system that runs under the City of Toronto (Scarborough). This was the “Geco” munitions plant, built during WW2 by our government; it employed 21,000 citizens for over four years.

On Jan. 20, 2020, join the historical society for our annual “Show and Tell” as members tell brief stories about historic artifacts and personal mementos.

Seating for this event is limited. Non-members are welcome to attend for a $5 fee per meeting or can purchase an annual membership for $20 (individual) and $30 (family). All meetings end with delicious homemade refreshments and friendly conversation.

For more information regarding the Society or its monthly meetings and programs, please contact Janine Harris-Wheatley at 905-936-6549 or [email protected]

Meeting date: Jan. 20, 2020, 7:30 p.m.
Meeting location: Tec-We-Gwill Women's Institute Hall 4380 10th Line Newton Robinson, Ont.
