Sharks were spotted at Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library this week.
A Kids Fit and Fun game of “shark attack” was held on the library’s west lawn on Thursday as part of the town’s Recreation and Parks Month.
There have been indoor and outdoor activities at the library and BWG Leisure Centre throughout the month, including the town’s first ever pickleball tournament for ages 55 and up.
The goal is to get local families active and engaged in recreation.
With June winding down, there are only a handful of events left on the calendar:
June 22 and 29 – Family Fun Fridays, 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in the gym at the leisure centre. A parent-child (up to the age of 14) drop-in program, $5 per family, with sports equipment and toddler activities provided.
June 24 – Storytime yoga on the west lawn, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m., for ages four and up. Free.
June 24 – Family Swim to Survive, 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the BWG Leisure Centre’s Bradford Lions Aquatics Centre. A free all-ages class, teaching how to survive a fall into deep water. Pre-register online.
June 25 – Outdoor zumba, 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the west lawn, for ages 13 and up. Free.
June 26 – Toonie Tuesday leisure swim, 7-8:30 p.m. in the aquatics centre. $2 per person, for all ages.
June 27 – Boat safety at the Bradford Lions Aquatics Centre, 6:30-7:30 p.m. A free all-ages event.
The Leisure Centre will continue to offer a variety of registered and drop-in programs for all ages during the summer months — but only during June can participants also pick up a ballot at each activity for a chance to win Recreation and Parks Month prizes.
