Tuesday marked the grand opening of Selig Canada in Bradford West Gwillimbury and to celebrate the occasion, executives from Selig were joined by MP Scot Davidson, members of town council, and the Bradford Board of Trade.
“We’re all here to welcome you,” said Deputy Mayor James Leduc. “We appreciate that this company has chosen to come to Bradford. It fits right into our economic development plans."
Selig opened their Canadian manufacturing operations in BWG in 2021, after a multi-million dollar renovation at 100 Industrial Rd. that received grant assistance from the Town’s Industrial Areas Community Improvement Plan (IACIP) program.
“I know how competitive this business is and I want to thank all the staff,” said Davidson. “This is what makes dreams come true. We’re moving this country forward and I want to say thank you, you’ve got a great mayor and great councillors here moving this town forward when it wants to be expanding."
With the factory opening in Ward 2, the ward’s councillor, Jonathan Scott, was excited for the jobs created by Selig.
“An exciting afternoon opening the new Selig Group factory and head office in Ward 2’s Artesian Industrial Park,” said Scott. “Since 1890, Selig has been at the forefront of packaging and sealing solutions for a wide array of commercial products across the world, and we’re thrilled they’ve chosen to locate their Canadian head office here in Bradford. The new factory will create and maintain jobs.”
Selig is a global leader in packaging solutions that develop a range of sealing and packaging solutions that require round the clock work at a state-of-the-art facility.
“Renovating the new facility and relocating a plant without impacting customers is a significant challenge for any business, but accomplishing this in the middle of a global pandemic when we have a massive surge in demand for a plant that runs 24/7 is no ordinary thing,” said Kabil Kamban, director of operations at Selig Canada. “This is a great opportunity and I want to give a special thanks to the Town of Bradford’s team.”
Seling's container sealing product lines include primary seals, induction seals, glue applied, induction bond as well as vented sealing solutions and their flexible packaging solutions feature sustainable alternatives for all common single and high barrier multi-layer materials for food, pharmaceutical or technical applications. Selig holds the trademark for “Lift ‘n’ Peel” an easy-to-open packaging liner that can be found on a multitude of different packs.
“We couldn’t be more appreciative of the Town of Bradford’s support,” said Adam Sheridan, president of Selig Group. “We couldn’t be more excited about the future of growing and building our business here in Bradford.”
