Churches may be closed, but they are still serving their communities – and bringing people together, in spirit if not in fact.

On Sunday, March 29 at 7 p.m. the Anglican Church of Canada is inviting Canadians everywhere to light a “Candle of Hope,” as part of an international movement.

Participants are asked to light a candle, and place it in their window or on their porch, on the evening of March 29, as a “Candle of Hope”, praying for all of those affected by COVID-19, all frontline medical and essential workers serving their communities, and all of those working towards a treatment, a cure and a vaccine.

Rev. Dana Dickson of Trinity Anglican Church in Bradford has invited other churches in Bradford West Gwillimbury and their members, and now all residents regardless of faith or worship, to “join us in lighting up BWG with hope.”

Those who live within earshot of Church Street will also hear Trinity Anglican’s historic bell, at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

“I will also be ringing the bell at Trinity Anglican church… as part of this call to prayer, as bells were traditionally used to call people to prayer,” Rev. Dickson explained.
