Lorenzo Ingoglia, a familiar face on Simcoe Road in Bradford for close to 50 years celebrated his 100th birthday on Tuesday.
Ingoglia was born in Castellamare Sicily and came to Canada in 1958. He is a Second World War Veteran who fought in the Italian army. During that time he went missing for approximately three years and was held as a prisoner of war by the German Army.
While living in Bradford, he worked for the Davis family in the Holland Marsh and then at Joe Magani's 'Red and White' grocery store.
Family, friends and neighbours stopped in to give their well wishes Tuesday afternoon, including Mayor Rob Keffer and Coun. Peter Dykie.
"Congratulations to Lorenzo Ingoglia on this milestone birthday," said Mayor Keffer. "The Ingoglia family are long time residents who have worked hard and contributed to our town."
