It's Pancake Tuesday tomorrow! Here's where to get a syrupy stack

Church suppers are a regular feature of life in Bradford West Gwillimbury and area, with hundreds of diners attending one annual roast beef dinner this past weekend

Bond Head United Church held its annual roast beef supper and silent auction fundraiser at St. John’s Presbyterian Church on Saturday – a venue that is not only fully handicap-accessible, and offers a full commercial kitchen, but has the space to accommodate the hundreds of diners who came out for the annual event.

It was an opportunity to enjoy a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, including homemade pie for dessert, but also to pick up unique treasures, donated by church members, in the silent auction.

From handmade quilts and placemats, to trays of home-baked brownies; from original artwork and handicrafts, to household items culled from kitchens and closets, there was an array of items to be had at bargain prices.

Lent is a time of reflection, repentance and fasting for Christians, leading to Eastertide. Traditionally, Shrove Tuesday was the final feast before the start of Lent, using up the butter, fat, rich foods and sweets that might be given up during the penitential season.
