Sometimes, for those struggling financially, living with poverty or on the streets, the gift of warmth can mean the world.

Warm hats, mitts, new socks – simple things can bring comfort.

Over at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, a Christmas tree out in the hall has become a ‘Tree of Warmth’ – decorated with hats and scarves brought in by the congregation, to be given to those in need this holiday season.

And over at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Bond Head, another Tree of Warmth has been set up, this time decorated with socks.

The Catholic church, located at 56 Hearn St. in Bond Head, has launched a Sock Drive, especially for elementary-age children, both boys and girls. Donations can be dropped off at the church on Sundays, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. – or call 905-775-6144 to arrange another drop-off time.

The socks will be donated to a charity, in time for Christmas – giving a thoughtful, simple gift of warmth.
