On Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, South Simcoe Police Service kicked off Ontario’s annual Crime Prevention Week which runs to Nov. 10, 2018. The week-long event is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services and all police services across Ontario.

“Crime prevention is a shared responsibility. When we work together, we can all make a difference and help keep our communities safe," said Chief Andrew Fletcher. “We are proud that our communities are safe places to live, work, play and raise a family. We connect with government, community partners, young people, seniors and businesses to prevent crime throughout our communities.”

During Crime Prevention Week, officers will be sharing crime prevention tips via numerous media platforms on how we can continue to work together to make a difference.

On Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, we'll be holding a Property Marking event. Officers will provide an engraver for residents to place a marking on their property such as initials, date of birth etc. – something that will identify your property as being yours and a marking you can remember in the event the item is ever stolen.

Police can use that marking to add it to the Canada-wide police computer system to track it for recovery. Officers will also be providing tips on how to protect your home and vehicle from thieves.

When: Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018
Time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
