Fresh strawberries.

Whether you’ve got a hankering for ribs, strawberries, skating or history, there’s a little something for almost everyone in Bradford and Innisfil on Saturday and Sunday.

Here’s what’s happening in South Simcoe over the coming days:

They’ve got the meats

The sixth annual Innisfil Ribfest will return July 12 to 14. Happening on the grounds of Sunset Speedway (6918 Yonge St.), it’ll feature four top-quality rib teams — Louisiana-based Big Bubba Lou’s Bar-B-Q, Las Vegas’s Ribs Royale BBQ, Kingston, Jamaica’s Brick Yard BBQ and London, Ont.’s Texas Jack’s Barbeque — serving smoked ribs, brisket and sausage. There will also be other staples available like barbecued chicken, huge beef 'dino' ribs, Bloomin’ Onion, roasted corn, poutine and beer. Scheduled, too, is a kids zone with bouncy castles and inflatable obstacle courses, a marketplace, artisans, live tribute bands playing tunes from Bob Marley, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Blue Rodeo, and local musicians. For the schedule or more information, visit the Ribfest eventbrite page or go to ribfestx.com.

See red at the farmers’ market

The Bradford Farmers’ Market will host its Strawberry Festival Saturday, July 13 beginning at 9 a.m. It will feature music by Russ Clayton and patrons can get one free digital photograph at the Ilia Massalkine Photography booth. The market is held weekly from May 18 to Oct. 12 in the parking lot of the BWG Library (425 Holland St. W.). For more information, visit bradfordfarmersmarket.ca or email [email protected].

Local history’s mysteries revealed

Join the Bradford West Gwillimbury Local History Association for a tour Saturday. You can carpool from Bond Head United Church (4221 County Road 88) and the group is leaving at 1 p.m. sharp. For more information, contact Mikki Nanowski at [email protected] or 905-775-4011.

Public skating hits the ice Bradford

The BWG Leisure Centre (471 West Park Ave.) will host all-ages public skating on Sunday, July 14 at 12:15 p.m. Everyone who participates in this leisure program should consider wearing a helmet and gloves while on the ice. Children nine years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, while food, drinks, skating aids, sticks, pucks, balls, sleds, chairs and strollers are not permitted. Further details can be found at calendar.townofbwg.com.
