Five events you have to check out in South Simcoe this weekend

Pumpkin Fest is returning to Bradford this weekend.

This has to be one of my favourite times of the year.

Yes, there is a bite in the air. And, yeah, I generally love my 25 C weather, where I can comfortably sit on the backyard deck at any time of the day, cold beverage in hand. But I consider myself to be a Halloween fan, so driving around and seeing the decorations, and putting up a few of my own, puts me into a state of near bliss.

It’s also the time for fun fall-themed events and to make some haunting memories. Luckily, there are plenty of those opportunities planned for this weekend.

Here’s what’s happening in Bradford and Innisfil over the coming days:

Be a friend to Bradford’s library

Bradford West Gwillimbury Friends of the Library will host its next book sale at the library (425 Holland St. W.) throughout the weekend. Running Friday at 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., it then continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Thousands of titles should be available to shoppers, most priced at $1 each.

Hallowalk of Friday Harbour

Embark on a thrilling journey through the resort’s nature preserve Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6 to 9 p.m. until Oct. 27. Stroll along an illuminated forest path, where the wonders of Halloween come to life at every turn. Encounter spooky décor, immersive themed zones, and unexpected surprises. Complete the evening with a dinner at Lake Club restaurant. Hallowalk admission ranges from $10 to $19. For more information, or to book a time, visit fridayharbour.com.

Craft and gift show at Sandycove Acres

The Sandycove Annual Craft and Gift Show takes place at The Wheel (2 Weeping Willow Dr.) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. All crafts are made by residents of the retirement community. There will be free admission and parking, and the event is bigger than ever. For more details, email Cynthia LeBel at [email protected].

Music at the Market

The Triton Music parent council is putting together the inaugural Music at the Market event at Innisfil Town Square (971 Innisfil Beach Rd.) on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’ll feature a raffle, vendor market and live music from the bands. This event will support the Triton Music program at Nantyr Shores Secondary School.

Hey there, Pumpkin

The Town of Bradford’s eighth annual Pumpkin Fest runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Henderson Memorial Park (3171 9th Line). There will be an inflatable maze and games, tractor and wagon rides, mini golf, face painting and pumpkin carving, among other activities. Plenty of food options, stage entertainment and buskers are also scheduled. For more, visit townofbwg.com.
