The Bradford Farmers’ Market will be back for the Harvest Festival on Oct. 12.

Is everyone ready to feast this weekend?

Thanksgiving is upon us and with this holiday often comes gatherings filled with family, friends and food. Personally, I always enjoy the camaraderie most, followed closely by turkey, then a big slice of pumpkin pie smothered in whipped cream.

Of course, the post-meal nap always fights for a spot on the podium.

Here’s what else is happening in Bradford and Innisfil this long weekend:

Final Bradford Farmers’ Market of the year

Help market vendors wrap up the 17th season and celebrate the harvest festival Saturday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., outside the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library (425 Holland St. W.). The event includes music from Jeremiah Hill. For more details, visit bradfordfarmersmarket.ca or email [email protected].

Drop-in family storytime

Join staff at the Lakeshore branch of the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library (967 Innisfil Beach Rd.) Saturday, for the next instalment of this weekly family event. Expect an hour of stories, songs, crafts and playtime. Get to know other families in your community while nurturing your child's love of books and reading. All ages are welcome, though it is considered most suitable for kids six and under. This event is free, it runs from 10 to 11 a.m. and no registration is required.

English conversation circle

If you’ve ever wanted to take the step of improving your language skills in a fun and supportive environment, drop by Innisfil's Lakeshore library on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. Led by YMCA newcomer services personnel, the free circle provides a welcoming and inclusive space for learners of all levels. No registration is required, just stop in.

Relive Hurricane Hazel

The BWG Local History Association will host a presentation titled ‘Hurricane Hazel — 70 years’ at the Bradford library Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. The event takes place in the Zima Room.

Hallowalk of Friday Harbour

Embark on a thrilling journey through the resort’s nature preserve Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6 to 9 p.m. until Oct. 27. Stroll along an illuminated forest path, where the wonders of Halloween come to life at every turn. Encounter spooky décor, immersive themed zones, and unexpected surprises. Complete the evening with a dinner at Lake Club restaurant. Hallowalk admission ranges from $10 to $19. For more information, or to book a time, visit fridayharbour.com.
