Cooking pot sparks fire call at apartment building in Bradford

No injuries reported in Wednesday afternoon incident, fire chief says

An apartment building was temporarily evacuated following a cooking-related fire Wednesday afternoon.

Bradford Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to a report of the blaze at a multi-storey, low-rise residential complex on Centre Street, in the town's east end. Turns out, a pot on a stove was the culprit — it was quickly removed by firefighters.

No injuries were reported. There is no damage estimate, though a new pot will likely be required, new Chief Michael Rozario told BradfordToday

“We ventilated the building to remove the odour and smoke generated from the contents in the pot,” he said.

Everyone returned to their units “very quickly” after ventilation was complete, Rozario said.
