It was a windy day, but that didn't stop market-goers from attending Pride at the Bradford Farmers' Market on Saturday.
Vendors embraced the celebration with rainbow-coloured treats and goods.
The Market had a craft table for kids with Pride-themed colouring sheets and coloured heart cutouts, as well as a photo booth with a large teddy bear, rainbow blanket and psychedelic green van. Beside the booth were mini Pride flags available to take, with the word Love spelled out over top.
"We are getting some fresh local vegetables and celebrating Pride month," said regular market goer, Stephanie Horlings, who brought her two young boys along who were busy listening to the tunes of local musician Jessie Gosling who was performing at the Market entrance.
This weekend market featured many local artisans in addition to the regular weekly vendors.
Bradford's Wendy Smith of 'Style With Wendy' was selling some of her handmade colourful, floral creations.
"I came home and came back today trying to figure out how I was going to do this in the wind," she said.
Due to the gusts, she had to lay them all out on the grass to avoid them blowing off the table.
During COVID, while retired, she started creating her faux floral pieces for fun as a way to keep busy.
"Then my daughter said, 'why don't you start selling them online?'"
So she did. And was surprised by how popular they were, selling a total of 500 arrangements.
"I love it, I listen to my audiobook, I've got my coffee and I make arrangements," she said. "And I love the Market, it's great."
Jennifer Bahinski with The Clothes Line, a second-hand clothing shop in town run by CONTACT Community Services had some fun, summery threads out on racks for shoppers to peruse. This was The Clothes Line's first time being a vendor at the market.
The shop is run mostly by volunteers, selling donated clothing at affordable prices, with profits going back to the community through charitable programming.
"My summer is fully booked, we are just trying to really get out there," said Bahinski.
The Clothes Line will be at the Market for another two weekends this season, as well as the annual Carrot Fest, and the Innisfil Fashion Market in Stroud.
The Bradford Farmers' Market hosts artisan markets once a month, the next one is on Saturday, July 23.
