Cadet's Corner is a weekly column from the local Air Cadet squadron
This past Thursday, the Cadets completed their fitness assessment as part of the cadets level training. While dressed in gym attire the cadets ran a shuttle run, did push-ups and shoulder stretches. After their fitness assessment cadets learned and practiced their drill and marching in preparation for the Remembrance Parade.
Senior Cadets in Levels 4 and 5 completed Senior NCO (Non-Commissioned Officers) Development Day. This gave the cadets an opportunity to lead and instruct due to the missed opportunity with having virtual instruction the last two years. This workshop aimed to bridge the gap of knowledge and experience for those cadets who were thrust into roles they may not be prepared for in a traditional way by virtue of age and time enrolled. During break time the cadets enjoyed a bowl of soup as part of the Soup for the Soul Fundraiser. They appear to enjoy it at the same time, giving back to the Legion and the Bradford Food Bank.
Sunday the Cadets were out in the community working with the Bradford Legion to support the Poppy Campaign. Cadets were out at several locations to help raise funds for local veterans by poppy canvassing. Thank you to everyone who purchased a poppy.
The Bradford Remembrance Day Parade will take place on Sunday, Nov. 6, marching off at 12:30 p.m. from 168 Holland Street West - Subway/Pizza Pizza plaza and run its usual route along Holland Street from Collings Avenue to Bingham Street, then down Bingham Street and Back Street to end at the Bradford Legion, where the wreath-laying ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. 37 Orville Hand Air Cadet Squadron will be participating in the parade and will be participating in the Remembrance Ceremony.
37 Bradford Air Cadets meet every Thursday evening, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at Fieldcrest E.S. Additional training may be at the Bradford Legion, which is sponsoring the Bradford squadron. Additional training sessions and courses are held on weekends or during the summer.
