Cadets’ Corner is a weekly column submitted by the 37 Orville Hand Air Cadet Squadron.

The 37 Orville Hand Air Cadet Squadron is counting down to the 2023-24 season kicking off at Fieldcrest Elementary School on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. with an open house for all returning and new cadets.

To kick off the sixth year of 37 Squadron, it is with honour the squadron welcomes a different commanding officer, Maj. Darren Hodskins.

Maj. Hodskins is a highly experienced officer and incredibly knowledgeable on how a cadet unit works. He has commanded many units previously, served in senior headquarters roles, and is familiar with the relationships and roles between all parties involved in 37 Squadron.

Maj. Hodskins already has activities planned that are fun, challenging and rewarding as well as a roster of officers ready to meet the air cadets of 37 Squadron and help them to learn, to serve and to advance, including founding member Deputy Commanding Officer Capt. JP Johnson.

If you are interested in becoming an air cadet with 37 Squadron, training takes place at Fieldcrest Elementary School every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Please go online to bradfordaircadets.ca for further information and to sign up.
