BRADFORD RATTLERS
***************************
The first-place division Bradford Rattlers hosted the third-place division Temiscaming Titans on Sunday, Jan. 8, for the first game of the 2023 year.
The evening began with flag bearers Maksym and Bogdan attending the ice and completing two laps with the Bradford Rattlers flags flying overhead while under the spotlight generously provided by team sponsor Upsight & Sound Inc from Barrie.
The game was a powerful and even-matched start, with both teams fresh off their holiday breaks. However, the Titans started the scoring with the only goal in the first period occurring at 10:51 by Thomas LaForge (#18) and assisted by Philippe Falardean (#64) and Massimo Doyle (#24).
The Rattlers battled back in the second period, though, with a goal at 15:13 by Jacob Rodin (#91) and assisted by Jesper Eriksson (#8) and Tanner Skrypnyk (#27). The Rattlers took the goal advantage with further unchallenged goals by Arvix Maum (#19) at 14:05, Stephan Levisky (#14) at 12:05, and Danila Filippov (#4) at 11:08. Temiscaming managed to drain another goal to the back at the net at 9:16 by Shawn Boudreah, tightening up the score with a 4-2 in favour of the Rattlers. However, the Rattlers pushed the lead to +3 with a goal at 3:33 by Christoph Kirchmayer (#21) to end the 2nd period.
The third period saw domination by the Rattlers, with the Titans seemingly losing gas. The Rattlers scored three unanswered goals during the third period, with goals two by Swen Mesuy (#12) at 14:50 and 12:37, followed by one at 10:38 by Jacob Rodin.
The Rattlers host the West Nipissing Lynx on Sunday, Jan. 15; doors open at 6:30 p.m., warmups at 7 p.m. and puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
