Bradford's open air fire ban has been lifted ahead of the Victoria Day long weekend.

In his video address to the town yesterday, Mayor Rob Keffer announced that the fire ban has been lifted so that families are able enjoy fireworks together on their properties over the long weekend.

As per the town, if you currently have a valid permit for a wood-burning appliance (e.g. chiminea) or for agricultural burning, you may now use it. However, as the fire station is currently closed to the public, no new permits can be issued at this time.

The ban had been put in place originally in order to reduce the risk of preventable fires and reduce the strain on emergency services.
