Families and adults looking for a different kind of entertainment this summer can book their ticket for one-of-a-kind arts and culture cruises full of pirates and haunted spirits.

Pirate Life Children’s Theatre, a family-friendly, interactive theatre production, and Escape the Ghost Ship, an immersive, adult escape game, are now setting sail from Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton and Barrie on a custom-built, pirate-themed passenger vessel.

“Where else can you step aboard a Transport Canada-approved pirate ship, interact with pirates and ghosts, participate in quests and challenges, and take in a live performance — all while actually sailing on a real boat?” says Mat Vales, executive director of Art & Water, the not-for-profit arts and culture charity responsible for Pirate Life and Escape the Ghost Ship. “We’ve created two distinct and truly memorable experiences designed to captivate imaginations while inviting guests to play, create and imagine with us outdoors on the water.”

Pirate Life is a daytime performance tailored for families with children, where guests set sail on a swashbuckling adventure as our crew of professional actors brings engaging tales of daring pirates, mysterious maps, and epic quests to life. From water cannons to treasure hunts, every show is an immersive journey.

Escape the Ghost Ship is an adult evening escape game where you and your crew plan to commandeer an abandoned ship, only to discover it’s cursed. To secure the ship — and your immortal souls — you’ll complete challenges to help free the ghosts of Bethany Bishop and her crew, before the curse claims its next victims.

“Both of our experiences are all about sharing moments of laughter, excitement and discovery in an atmosphere that encourages social connection through the magic of live performance,” says Vales.

Tickets for Pirate Life Children’s Theatre and Escape the Ghost Ship are now available at www.piratelife.ca and www.escapetheship.com. Show times and days vary per production and location, running throughout the summer from May to October.
